In December of 2011, the eJewish Philanthropy asked the community a rather simple but interest-piquing question, "What is Jewish Philanthropy?" The question has raised so many ideas and a few of them stood out.
Richard Marker said in his essay (Jewish Philanthropy: Us, Them, – or All of Us?), "In the end, Jewish philanthropy in this era is to be defined by the intention of the funder more than by the nature of the recipient. After all, philanthropy is not the determination of values, but a reflection of them."
