The members of the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation's Youth Service Award Committee granted GraceWorks, a small nonprofit afterschool program, a $10,000 grant.
The committee, made up of local high school seniors, spends months learning about philanthropy, conducting site visits and evaluating grant proposals. They then select a nonprofit to receive a grant awarded by the foundation annually.
