Helsinki Selected for the Iclei Action Fund: 7M€ for Data-Driven Projects in Europe

Google is putting its money where its mouth is.

The tech giant is offering $10 million to help cities around the world reduce emissions and prepare for the effects of climate change, reports the Guardian.

The money is coming from Google's ICLEI Action Fund, a joint initiative of the company and the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.

The first round of grants, totaling $10 million, was given out in May to six non-profit and academic organizations in Copenhagen, Berlin, Hamburg, Nantes, and Oldham in France, and Glasgow and Malmo in the UK.

The applications are now open, and more cities are expected to be selected in the coming weeks.
