A company called Blue Orchard is trying to make a name for itself in the world of impact investing by investing in some of the world's poorest countries, Business Insider reports.
Blue Orchard, based in Switzerland, aims to invest in countries where access to credit is limited and where economic growth is hampered by corruption and climate change.
It's been investing in Indonesia, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, among other places.
The company's first investment was in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where it bought a controlling stake in a company that provides credit to the country's poor.
Blue Orchard's second investment was in Uganda, where it bought a controlling stake in a company that provides credit to the country's poor.
But Blue Orchard isn't the only one trying to make a name for itself in impact investing.
A number of asset managers are also trying to make a name for themselves in the area.
