South Puget Sound Community College in Olympia, Wash., has been named one of the nation's "10 Green Colleges" by US News & World Report.
The designation is based on the college's efforts in a number of areas, including its solar panels, pesticide-free landscaping, and plans to install 10 electric vehicle charging stations, the AP reports.
The college says it has been tracking energy consumption and carbon emissions for more than a decade.
"From installing solar panels to help consumption of nonrenewable energy resources, to adopting safe, pesticide-free landscaping practices that protect watersheds, SPSCC finds innovative ways to continuously evolve its approach to environmental stewardship on campus," the school said in a statement.
