A team of University of Pittsburgh health sciences students has won a " Healthy Equity Innovation Award" at a national case competition for their plan to deal with a pandemic involving long-term-care facilities.
The students presented their analysis and implementation plans for how to prepare and respond effectively to a rising pandemic at the 19th annual CLARION National Interprofessional Case Competition at the University of Minnesota on April 13, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The teamwhich included Paula Hayden-Vazquez in nursing, Olivia Frey inPharmacy, Natalie Schwarzwalder in emergency medicine, and Daoud Ilayan in social workwas one of 11 teams from universities across the country with 47 students representing different health care professions.
