Flint Institute of Music Grant

Organization - Flint Institute of Music
Grant Amount - $13,350
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - This grant will provide continued funding to the Flint Institute of Music to implement Phase 3 of its diversity plan. Like similar organizations throughout the country, the Flint Institute of Music faces major challenges in increasing the number of minority participants, audiences, and staff that are reflective of the community it serves. Phases 1 and 2 identified cultural, racial, and economic barriers that prevent individuals from accessing the institute's programs and provided diversity training to staff, faculty, and board members to improve cultural awareness, sensitivity, and competence through all aspects of the organization. Phase 3 will focus on further training and the transfer of training skills to staff, defining measurements of success, and the development of sustainability strategies to embed diversity practices throughout the organization.
