Brookings Institution Grant

Organization - Brookings Institution
Grant Amount - $150,000
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - In partnership with a network of academic, public policy, business, and civic organizations, the Brookings Institution's Metropolitan Policy Program launched a multiyear research and policy development initiative in 2005 to improve the economic vitality of the Great Lakes region. A framing report, "The Vital Center: A Federal-State Compact to Renew the Great Lakes Region", was shared through a series of well-attended briefings of civic, business, political, labor, and media leaders at nearly a dozen major cities throughout the region. This renewal grant will provide funds for the grantee to continue to translate the report's recommendations into actions that can be taken by the region's government, education, and business communities to advance a winning economic vision for the Great Lakes region.
