Tiyakene Development Fund Grant

Organization - Tiyakene Development Fund
Grant Amount - $63,000
Foundation - Mott Foundation
Grant Purpose - This grant will provide continued support to the Tiyakene Development Fund's NPO Institution Building Project. Tiyakene Development Fund is an organizational development group that works with nonprofits on improving their organizational systems, financial health, and management capacity. This project was started in 2005 because of the growing number of nonprofits in South Africa that were facing organizational difficulties ranging from financial mismanagement, to poor governance, and lack of strategic focus. The program has expanded from training offered to selected nonprofits, to also include institutional supports to help nonprofits transfer the skills learned into their organizational systems and processes. Capacity-building support now consists of four components: (1) training; (2) systems development; (3) in-house support and mentoring; and (4) peer support groups.
