Grant Purpose - Through this second phase grant, the University of Florida (UF) will help consolidate six graduate programs in environmental law, conservation, sustainable development and protected area management at three regional universities in the Brazilian Amazon, and train regional conservation leaders at the M.S., Ph.D., and professional level at the UF. These grant outputs support higher level outcomes of improved effective management in Protected Areas in the MAP region and the Department of Loreto, increased effectiveness of legal mechanisms for the reduction of deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon, and innovative conservation leadership in the Amazon.
